On a much happier note than the past few days post, here’s a special treat!

When I was in high school we’d go to Friendly’s and I’d get a Reese’s Pieces Sundae.   I’m not even that big of a fan of Reese’s Pieces, but these are to die for.  Yum!

Free Italian Ice!

I’ve never been a huge fan of Italian ices, never being one who could chew ice to begin with.  That said, I do like a lemon ice every now and again,  particularly the sugar-laden variety one finds at fairs and festivals.  Yum!

Rita’s, purportedly the nation’s largest Italian Ice chain, will hold its 17th annual First Day of Spring Italian Ice giveaway just four short days before my birthday.  Just stop by any of the 500 stores located in 17 different states between noon and 10 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, March 20, 2009) to receive a free 10-oz. cup of Italian Ice.

Restaurants must really be hurting,  at least if the number of offers I’m seeing are any indication.  Here are just a few of the offers I’ve seen lately:

The 2008 Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 from 5 pm to 9 pm in all Golden Corral Restaurants.

The free dinner is available to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to participate in Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday dinner.

Hmmm.  Would have been kinda nice to do this on Veteran’s Day, even if it was a Tuesday.  But any day, any way we can honor our veterans – and their families – is perfectly fine with me!

I just got a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert at TGI Fridays. Want one? Go to the TGI Fridays site and sign up to Give Me More Stripes. They’ll e-mail you a coupon for a free appetizer (no other purchase is necessary, and it expires one month after it’s issued). TGI Fridays will also mail you a card that gives you a one-time chance to cut the line. On a weekend, this could sure come in handy! The card also entitles you to $8 of free food for every $100 that you spend.
