Remind Me To Never Go to Taipei…

From last year's birthday trip to Metrozoo, where his only interest was the restrooms...

Everyone who reads my blog knows that Son’s favorite thing is a restroom.  Ever since he was a baby he has been fascinated by toilets, and they day he discovered a urinal our whole lives changed.  He wanted to be a urinal for Halloween, and whenever you ask him what he wants for his birthday his answer is invariably “A restroom!”

One of last year's efforts. Today's are much more detailed.

Thank goodness he doesn’t  know about this restaurant in Taipei, the brainchild of someone who is obviously a kindred spirit to Son.  Or four years old.

“The servers bring your meal atop a mini toilet bowl (quite convenient, as it brings the food closer to your mouth), you sip drinks from your own plastic urinal (a souvenir), and soft-swirl ice cream arrives for dessert atop a dish shaped like a squat toilet.”

Seriously, who wants to eat food that looks like poop?  Out of a toilet bowl.  While sipping upon one. Here are some more photos, for those who appreciate my not  posting them directly.

I’m one that loves desserts.  But you can bet your ass that I’m not eating ice cream called “diarrhea with dried droppings” (chocolate), “bloody poop” (strawberry) and “green dysentery” (kiwi). But my, how Son would love it!

No, we’ll not be going to Taipei.  But if any of you go, would you please bring Son one of the souvenier urinal cups?  He’d be ever so grateful…

Free Chocolate Cake at Toojay’s!

If you are lucky there is a Toojay’s near you.  They have absolutely terrific food, and their sandwich breads are out of this world.

We go there occasionally, and Son always orders their peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  It’s huge, and he manages to eat the entire thing.  Me?  Any excuse for good hot corned beef on rye is a good one.  Put a little cole slaw on the sandwich and some steak fries on the side and you have my absolutue favorite lunch.  I love me some Jewish sould food!

Well, I just found out they are offering a printable coupon for free slice of their chocolate cake “to share”.

As if.

This is the same chocolate cake I drooled over a few weeks ago (well, not the same exact one, Cammie), and I can’t think of a better place to enjoy lunch on my birthday, just 15 short days away.

Who wants to join me?  You’re welcome to come!  But bring your own dang coupon.

Restaurants must really be hurting,  at least if the number of offers I’m seeing are any indication.  Here are just a few of the offers I’ve seen lately:

• Free Arby’s Roast Burger with any drink purchase through March 9th.  Thanks Patty!
• Free Chips and Queso at Chili’s when you sign up for their email club.
• Free Chocolate fondue for two at The Melting Pot when you join the Melting Pot’s Fondue Club.
• $1 off coupon (meaning you can get a free Dollar Menu item!) at Wendy’s when you sign up for their Mailing List. After you do that you will get an email with a $1 off coupon.
• Three very cool Buy One Get One Free coupons good to use at Denny’s through 2/27.
• Get two Blizzard treats for the price of one when you join Dairy Queen’s Blizzard Fan Club.

Free Quiznos Sub!

Quiznos is giving away a free sub sandwich to the first one million people who register here. I signed Husband and I both up to receive a free sub sandwich coupon.  You need a different e-mail address for each person, and I think it’s adults only.  It prints your name and zip code on the coupon, and they say you need to show ID when you redeem it.

They’ve already given out over 600,000, so don’t miss out!

Denny’s is going to be really, really, REALLY busy on Tuesday!

Every guest from 6AM – 2PM on Tuesday will receive 1 free Grand slam, and 1 free coupon book with 8 coupons in it. Each coupon book has 4 BOGO’s, 2- 25% off coupons, 1 coupon good for free dessert , and 1 coupon good for a free order of pancake puppies. Each Denny’s in the US received 1,000 of these coupon books to hand out to guests on Tuesday who order a free Grand Slam.

Per Denny’s Corporate every store also received 500 Grand Slam rain check coupons. Denny’s has instructed each manager to hand these rain checks out good for a free Grand Slam to any guest who can’t wait.

So go into Denny’s, on Tuesday for your free breakfast, and ask the manger and get a great coupon book .  If you can’t wait ask for the free Grand Slam rain check coupon for a later date.

Denny’s spent 3 million on the Super Bowl ad, and tons more on a full page ad this coming Monday in USA Today. They are taking this very seriously and instructing all stores to staff as if it’s a major Holiday and for the staff to be as friendly as humanly possible.

Win a Dinner a Week for a Year at Pollo Tropical!

Pollo Tropical is once again giving away a year’s worth of family meals to 15 winners.  This is mostly a Florida chain, with a few stores in New Jersey and one in Connecticut.

Each winner receives coupons good for 52 Family Meal Deals. The family meal includes a whole chicken, two sides and four dinner rolls or it can combination that includes steak, pork or ribs. The winning coupons are worth about $800.

I’ve not had one of these, but I’m thinking it has to taste like a frozen Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie.

That would not suck.
